Wonka (2023)

Aspiring inventor and chocolatier Willy Wonka arrives by boat in an unnamed European city to fulfill his dream of opening his chocolate shop at the Galeries Gourmet. He decides to stay at a laundromat owned by the devious Scrubbit and her henchman Bleacher. Despite warnings from Noodle, an orphan who stays at Scrubbit's, the illiterate Wonka willingly signs her contract, which forces him to pay excessive charges during his stay.

 

A confident Wonka goes to the Galeries Gourmet to sell his "hover chocs" which make those who eat them fly. The Galeries' three main chocolatiers – Slugworth, Prodnose, and Fickelgruber – mock Wonka and his chocolates and call the Chief of Police to confiscate his earnings for the day.

Mike, a troubled young man, takes care of his 10-year-old sister Abby. He is still haunted by the disappearance, never elucidated, of his little brother, which occurred about ten years ago. Recently fired, he absolutely needs to find a job so as not to lose custody of’Abby. So he accepts a job as a night watchman, in a disused restaurant : Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. But Mike is quick to understand that appearances are terribly misleading. With the help of Vanessa Shelly, police officer, he is confronted, at night, with unexplainable supernatural phenomena and switches into a nightmare universe...

 

The Creator

In 2065, ten years after Los Angeles had been hit by a nuclear bomb allegedly sent by artificial intelligence, an undercover US agent, Joshua Taylor, lives with his pregnant wife Maya in New Asia, a region where AIs, unlike in the West, are not banned. However, military troops attack Joshua's home and his wife and friends disappear in an explosion.

Five years later, Joshua is sent on a reconnaissance mission to find and destroy Nirmata, leader of the AIs, in New Asia. His commanding officers inform him that Maya is not dead. Joshua finds the "weapon" that Nirmata has created is but a six-year old girl, which he calls Alphie. Joshua goes rogue and decides to protect Alphie in order to find Maya.

 

A Haunting Venice 

Agatha Christie remains the best-selling fiction author of all time and the queen of whodunits. Her stories have been adapted for the screen countless times and have been the primary source of inspiration for detective films well after her time. Whodunits like Knives Out and Bad Times at the El Royale show true roots stemming from Christie's work. Fans of these films are captivated by a theatrical guessing game in which the plot is conducted entirely of twists. After the successes of Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile, it is welcomed news that a third installment of the modern Hercule Poirot films is set to hit theaters late next year.

Kenneth Branagh returns his stunning portrayal of detective Hercule Poirot in the newest Agatha Christie adaptation, A Haunting in Venice, based on her novel Hallowe'en Party. For the third time, Branagh will be directing and starring in the film. Though each previous movie has been met with mixed reviews, they both grossed millions over their production budget and were generally appreciated by critics. The movies are vivid in imagery, action-packed, and always flaunt a brilliant cast. Detective Hercule Poirot will have to whip out his hawk-eye detective skills again for the intense, shadowy world of A Haunting in Venice. Here’s what we know so far.

 

The Nun II

The next addition to The Conjuring Universe is headed to theaters and fans of the horror franchise can’t wait to see what terror the demon Valak has in store for them next. Part of the dark world created by horror hero James Wan, The Nun II has been long awaited, and five years after the release of the first The Nun film, audiences are eager to see what haunt the demon is headed to next. In the first Nun film, audiences followed Sister Irene and Father Burke as they investigated the death of a nun in Saint Cartha’s monastery in Romania. 

Things weren’t what they seemed within the walls of the Abbey, and Sister Irene faced off against the demon who escaped banishment by possessing unsuspecting delivery man Maurice. With the second film picking up four years later, audiences will have to wait and see what horrors the demon will cause while residing in its new vessel.

Warner Bros released the official trailer for The Nun II on July 6, 2023. The trailer will also play before showings of Insidious: The Red Door. The trailer teases that the sequel to the Conjuring spin-off will feature plenty of scares, and will bring a new story to the demonic nun Valak. A teaser trailer was shown exclusively in theaters in early June 2023, in front of select screenings of The Boogeyman. On August 7, we got a new teaser for The Nun II, which you can see below:

 

The Equalizer 3

The transition from television series to film franchise is one that, on occasion, works perfectly. Throughout the years we have seen several successful TV shows turned into even more successful big-screen behemoths, with the likes of 21 Jump Street and The Simpsons receiving Hollywood adaptations. One such series is the 1980s spy-thriller The Equalizer, originally co-created by Michael Sloan and Richard Lindheim. 

The series was a huge hit in its day but, after ending in August 1989, there were plenty of empty years for fans of the show to yearn for its appearance on their screens once again. Alas, nearly 30 years later, the announcement was made that a Hollywood adaptation was in the works, with the 2014 film of the same name written by Richard Wenk and directed by Antoine Fuqua. The movie starred Denzel Washington (Training Day) in the lead role, with his portrayal of Robert McCall becoming one of his most iconic characters. So, with such a great reaction to the first movie from both lovers of the source material and new fans alike, it was a no-brainer for executives to commission a sequel. With the sequel also managing to capture the attention and love of a plethora of fans, a third installment of the franchise was announced, with that film expected to release later this year. So, with that in mind, here is everything we know about The Equalizer 3 so far.

 is a 2023 epic biographical thriller film written and directed by Christopher Nolan. Based on the 2005 biography American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin, the film chronicles the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, a theoretical physicist who was pivotal in developing the first nuclear weapons as part of the Manhattan Project, and thereby ushering in the Atomic Age. Cillian Murphy stars as the titular character, with Emily Blunt as Oppenheimer's wife, Katherine "Kitty" Oppenheimer, Matt Damon as General Leslie Groves, Oppenheimer's military handler, and Robert Downey Jr. as Lewis Strauss, a senior member of the United States Atomic Energy Commission. Other members of the supporting cast include Florence Pugh, Josh Hartnett, Casey Affleck, Rami Malek, and Kenneth Branagh.
